Topic: Grammar - review on the first 3 Basic Parts of Speech
Concepts taught: Noun - Common/Proper, Collective, Singular/Plural,Gender; Pronoun-Persona, Possessive, Demonstrative,Restrictive; Adjectives-Sequential, Comparison; Determiners.
Comments of students: Class A - had a basic knowledge of grammar but are not that confident on its correct usage. Class B - got confusion on the differences on the Restrictive Pronoun.
Improvement points of students: Needs to practice more on the application of these grammatical concepts on their writing and speaking.
Homework given: Chapter Exams for grammar will be given on Thursday(09/07/09), students are encouraged to review.

AEIS Friday Activity
(TRIP TO TOA PAYOH COMMUNITY LIBRARY)

Students present: Michael, William, Susan, Henry, Carl and Noe Noe
Teacher: Linda
Subject: English
Objectives:
a) to have the basic knowledge on how to go about in borrowing and locating books in the local library;
b)to be able to register themselves to Singapore's National Library System;
c)to be able to familiarize themselves on the different aspects of Singapore's National Library System.
Concepts taught: Reading and Research Appreciation; Knowledge on Singapore's National Library System.
Comments of students: All students were enthusiastic of the trip. They roam around the Toa Payoh Community Library from the ground floor up to the third floor. They experienced how to locate the books they needed and borrow books.
Improvement points of students: Discipline and to be conscoius always that in the library silence is a must.
Homework given: Students are expected to make a book report next friday(10/07/09) on the topic they were assigned basing from the book they borrowed.

Concepts taught:
Reading Comprehension - 2 types of Comprehensive test were given
Product Advertising Activity - students were made to design their own product and were made to write a composition about the product and on how to sell their product.
Comments of students: Henry and Michael did well in the exams. Noe Noe needs improvement on this type of test.
For their Advertising activity, Noe Noe and Susan did well in their presentation. Susan made a very nice design of their product. Henry and Michael are imaginative and supportive in thier group activity.
Improvement points of students: Students have been participative but the results of their test showed that they are not that confident yet in a Time-Framed Comprehension Exams.
Homework given (including due date): Summary of the first 5 chapters of their asssigned novels will be collected on Tuesday (07/07/09)

Practice questions given: My materials (Photocopy)Post-teachingGeneral comments of students: Students enjoyed the vocabulary session, especially when they get to use it on each other.
Improvement points of students: Students have a tendency to lapse in their Mother Tongue. I introduced a charge of $10 for each time they were caught communicating in any language other than English. Collected about $0.80 and they adhered to speaking in English only thereafter.
